By now, I am sure every tenant and staff member has seen or heard about the bears that have been visiting us. Concerned tenants have asked to have the bears removed and a conservation officer attended and dropped off a bear trap.
He warned me that tenants leaving out bird feeders, humming bird feeders and leaving food out for squirrels, contributes to this problem. As such tenants who do leave out feeders can be charged under the conservation act.
These bears will most probably be considered habituated, and will not simply be re homed.
We all love our wildlife, let’s keep them, and ourselves safe. Please don’t feed the bears, even inadvertently.
